This work deals with the expectations, failures, assumptions, judgements, fears, and overall difficulty of becoming a mother 13 years after I was told that it was not possible and dealing with the complicated feelings that surround that.
a direct statement in my medical file regarding my decision to use a breast pump as opposed to actively breast feeding.
“LC in to follow up with Ms. Allen on breastfeeding education/pumping for new infant. Ms. Allen relays that infant was transferred from NICU to NNSY overnight. She states that she is considering pumping and feeding by bottle at this time, as this "just works better".”
The number of hours that I had with my newborn son, before having to go back to work.
Words spoken to me that reiterated my fears that I was not capable of or supposed to be a mother.
